Gavin Mitchell

I started photography in 1982 with a Praktica MTL3 and rapidly moved up through the cameras until I settled on Minolta. I was taking more and more windsurfing shots and I then moved into covering other extreme sportssuch as snowboarding, skiing, kayaking wakeboarding and kitesurfing to name a few.
I progressed onto working with Superbike teams for their portfolios and carried out exhibition work to provide clients with images for their websites, flyers and promotional packs. This was all done with the Minolta Dynax system and film!!
Digital beckoned and after years of frustration waiting as Minolta were so slow in releasing their Digital SLR I moved over to Canon with no regrets. I now use the EOS 1D Mk2 with its 8fps and the 20d with a varying selection of Canon and Sigma Lenses.
Pixpro was born 3 years ago and has grown from strength to strength carrying out the normal day to day shots for clients who need what I consider to be normal photography whilst Sportspix continues to concentrate on my love of extreme sports and equestrian.
My photographic work is essentially split several different areas as below
PIXPRO
This is the general commercial side of photography where shots for brochures, websites and flyers are done. Bridalpix is a recent addition for that special day
WILDPIX
This covers any type of animal - wild or captive, that I have the pleasure of photographing
SPORTSPIX
The extreme sports side of my photography whether it be snowboarding or superbikes!
EQUESTRIAN
Horses and more horses, running, jumping or just standing still
PETPIX
A recent addition to the portfolio covering domestic animals in their own environment
